Boat Bot

Boat Bot keeps watch over your boat.

Ask Matey about the wind, the batteries or the boats around you, out loud, even when the internet is down. Every phone aboard sounds the alarm if the anchor drags. And you can check on the boat from anywhere.

Matey, how's the anchor holding?
Matey
Holding fine, Cap'n. We're 40 ft from the drop, well inside the 120 ft circle. Wind's 14 knots from the east.

What it does aboard

Boat Bot reads your instruments through Signal K: wind, depth, GPS, batteries, solar, AIS. It turns them into answers and alarms.

Ask Matey
Say “Hey, Matey” and ask about wind, depth, tides, the batteries or the boats nearby. He answers out loud from your own instruments.
Anchor watch
Set the circle by voice. If the boat drags, every phone aboard sounds a fog horn, even on silent, until someone checks.
Log Book
Distance, wind and weather are logged every day. Add notes, photos and voice memos. If nobody wrote anything, Matey asks the next morning.
From anywhere
See where the boat is, the wind, the battery and the anchor from the dock bar or from home.
Shared with crew
Owners invite crew and guests. One sign-in with two-step protection opens every boat you sail on, and phones stay signed in.
The galley
Stores, the shopping list and meals for everyone aboard, with allergies flagged. Matey talks the cook through each step and keeps the timers.
Service and reminders
A maintenance plan by engine hours or calendar, whichever comes first. Matey counts the engine hours, reminds every phone when a job is due, and logs it when it's done.
A chart table on any screen
On a tablet or laptop, Matey sits beside the instruments and a live map: battery, wind, depth, speed, position and how much she's rolling.
Walkie-talkie
Hold to talk on any Matey screen and your voice plays on every other one aboard, and on the Pi's speaker.
No internet, no problem
Matey still hears you, answers about the boat, runs the anchor watch and keeps the timers when the connection drops.

When the internet drops, Matey stays on watch

Boat Bot runs on a Raspberry Pi aboard, so the things that keep you safe never wait for a signal. The Android app listens on the phone itself, and the Pi answers what it knows about the boat.

  • Depth, wind, battery, speed, position and motion, out loud
  • Drop, check or raise the anchor watch, and silence the alarm
  • Kitchen timers, the log book and the galley lists
  • Alarms ring every phone over the boat's Wi-Fi
No internet, boat Wi-Fi only
Matey, drop anchor a hundred and twenty feet.
Anchor's down 120 ft ahead, alarm circle 144 ft. I'm watching.
Matey, set a timer for ten minutes for the rice.
Rice timer set for 10 minutes.
Answered on the boat, with no connection.
