Email and Text Message Terms
Effective October 18, 2026
- Service emails (sign-in codes, invites, security and account notices) come with your account.
- Product news by email and text alerts are optional. Nothing is ticked for you, and you don't need them to use Boat Bot.
- Stop texts any time by replying STOP. Get help by replying HELP.
- Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies.
1. Emails
Service emails
While you have an account, we email you what you need to use it: sign-in codes, invites to join a boat, security notices (such as changes to two-step sign-in), important account and boat notices, and changes to our terms. These come from no-reply@boatbot.io. You can't opt out of them separately, because the Service doesn't work without them. To stop them, ask us to delete your account.
Product news (optional)
If you tick the box when you join or on your Account page, we'll send occasional news about new features and tips, at most a few a month. Every news email has an unsubscribe link, and you can untick the box at any time. We'll stop within 10 days at the latest, usually straight away.
Boat owners can send invites by email through Boat Bot. Only invite people who expect to hear from you.
2. Boat Bot text alerts
Program name: Boat Bot Alerts.
What you'll get: text messages about the boats you're on and your account, such as anchor-drag and other boat alarms, maintenance reminders, sign-in codes, and important account or security notices. We don't send marketing or promotional texts.
Who sends them: Boat Bot, the service at boatbot.io.
How to sign up
- Sign in at app.boatbot.io and open Account.
- Under Email and text messages, enter your mobile number.
- Tick the box that reads: “Yes, text me Boat Bot alerts at this number: anchor and boat alarms, maintenance reminders, sign-in codes and account notices. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. See the Messaging Terms and Privacy Policy.”
- Press Save. We text you to confirm.
The box is never ticked for you. Signing up for texts is not required to use Boat Bot or to buy anything. Only sign up a mobile number that is yours or that you're authorized to use. We keep a record of each sign-up and opt-out: the number, the wording you agreed to, the date and time, and the IP address it came from.
The confirmation text reads:
How often
Message frequency varies with what happens aboard: alarms are sent when they happen, and reminders when a job falls due. Most people get a few messages a month; a dragging anchor or a busy maintenance month can mean more.
Cost
Message and data rates may apply. Boat Bot doesn't charge for texts, but your mobile carrier may, especially when roaming abroad. Check your plan.
How to stop
Reply STOP to any Boat Bot text (or CANCEL, END, QUIT, UNSUBSCRIBE, STOP ALL, REVOKE or OPTOUT). We'll send one last message to confirm and then stop:
You can also untick text alerts on your Account page, or email support@boatbot.io. If you change or give up your number, update it or turn texts off first so alerts don't go to someone else.
Help
Reply HELP to any Boat Bot text, or email support@boatbot.io. The reply reads:
Sample messages
Delivery and safety
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Texts depend on mobile coverage, which is often missing at sea, and can arrive late or not at all. Text alerts are an extra, not a safety system. Keep a proper watch, as our Terms of Service explain.
Where it works
Text alerts are available to mobile numbers on major carriers in the United States and in other countries where our text-message provider can deliver them. Some countries and carriers may not support every feature, such as HELP and STOP replies.
Your privacy
We do not sell, rent or share your mobile number or your text-message opt-in consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Opt-in data and consent are shared only with the service providers that deliver our messages. Read our Privacy Policy for the rest.
3. Changes and contact
We may update these terms. We'll post the new version here and, if a change matters for messages you get, tell you before it applies. These terms are part of our Terms of Service. Questions: support@boatbot.io.
